　ROBBY THE ROBOTは、1956年封切りのMGM映画『禁断の惑星』に登場するロボットで、アイザック・アシモフのロボット三原則を忠実に守る優秀なロボットです。1958年に野村トーイから発売されたメカナイズド・ロボットはこのROBBY THE ROBOTをモデルにしたロボット玩具で、当時アメリカで大ヒットしました。その後ROBBY型ロボットは沢山作られ、その人気は今も衰えていません。
　大阪ブリキ玩具資料室では1999年に電動ROBBY THE ROBOTを発表しましたが、このゼンマイROBBY THE ROBOTも同様に実物のプロポーションを再現しディテールもブリキ玩具の製作上の制約を考慮にいれてデザインを決定したブリキ玩具としての完成度を追求した作品です。

　ゼンマイ歩行と同時にボイスチューブ内の発火機構によりライター石を発火させてボイスチューブの作動感を実現しました。頭部左右のスキャナーリングは回転し、ドーム内のドラムも回転しガジェットの作動感を実現しました。ドーム内のコイルは、リトグラフで表現し立体感を出しました。
　ゼンマイのキーは、ROBBY THE ROBOTの刻印を施し、いぶし銀風のメッキ仕上げになっています。

　箱絵（Box Art）はコンピューターグラフィックスでその才能の頭角をあらわしている内尾和正氏に依頼。SFロボットの王者ROBBY THE ROBOTを魅力的なタッチで表現しました。

Since Robby the Robot first appeared in the feature film FORBIDDEN PLANET, many toys have been made in his likeness. The very first entry, of course, was the tin toy Mechanized Robot produced by Nomura in 1958. We at OSAKA TIN TOY INSTITUTE have endeavored to produce the most detailed and highest quality Robby the Robot tin toys using the same methods as used during the Golden Age of Tin Toys in the 1950s and 1960s. We were delighted by the reception of our first entry into the genre, the 1998 battery-operated tin toy Robby the Robot with blaster. Now we are highly pleased to be able to offer our latest addition to this category, the all new wind-up tin toy Robby the Robot with sparking action.
